Our History

Metal Yapı Group embarked on its journey in 1983 with a bold vision: to unite excellence, innovation, and reliability in building envelope and façade engineering. What began as a modest initiative focused on aluminum and curtain wall systems has evolved into a globally recognized engineering group, delivering architecturally ambitious and technically complex projects across the world.

1983
Foundations and Early Years
(1983 - 1999)

The foundations of Metal Yapı were laid in the early 1980s through its initial operations in Saudi Arabia. This period marked the coming together of four visionary founders and the emergence of a technology- and engineering-driven building envelope company.

1987

In 1987, Metal Yapı was officially established in Istanbul under the name Metal ve Yapı Sistemleri Tic. A.Ş.

1991

In 1991, the company strengthened its corporate infrastructure by relocating to its first production facility and headquarters in Çatalca.

1997

Between 1997 and 1999, Metal Yapı achieved a significant technological leap by establishing in-house software, electronics, and mechanical departments. During this period, the company produced its first CNC Composite Panel Drawing Robot, with all mechanical and electronic software developed entirely by Metal Yapı engineers. This milestone marked a critical turning point in the company’s journey toward technological independence and operational efficiency.

2000
Technology-Driven Transformation
(2000-2005)

As the new millennium began, Metal Yapı defined a clear strategic objective: to become one of Europe’s leading façade engineering companies. In line with this goal, the company focused on developing eight core competencies, including R&D-driven system development, advanced engineering, production automation, testing laboratories, process optimization, office automation, and increased export capacity. This period symbolized Metal Yapı’s transformation into a fully integrated, technology-driven façade engineering company.

2002
European Expansion and Global Recognition

In 2002, the establishment of Metal Yapı SA in Brussels marked a decisive step toward a permanent presence in the European market. During the same period, the company entered the Romanian, Ukrainian, Russian, and UAE markets.

2003

In 2003, undertaking the façade design and installation of the Le Monde headquarters in Paris positioned Metal Yapı as a strong reference point within the European façade industry.

2004

By 2004, Metal Yapı Group had become an international organization operating simultaneously in 11 countries with more than 700 employees. Large-scale projects such as the European Council Building in Luxembourg became key milestones of this era.

2011
Structural Innovation, Integrated Production, and New Markets
(2011–2016)

In 2011, as part of a strategic investment in structural steel, Metal Yapı Engineering & Construction was established. In the same year, the company successfully completed its first free-form steel façade structure, fully designed and installed by Metal Yapı.

2013

In 2013, the integration of a stainless steel manufacturing division led to the establishment of an advanced, CNC-equipped integrated production facility. This enabled Metal Yapı to consolidate all disciplines required for a building envelope including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, glass, and bespoke façade components under one roof. This integrated structure provided a significant competitive advantage in terms of quality, speed, flexibility, and engineering coordination.

2014

2013 During the same period, Metal Yapı entered the United States market, strengthening its global position through the completion of large-scale projects in New York.

2017
Iconic Projects and Global Scale
(2017–2019)

In 2017, Metal Yapı was selected by Saint-Gobain for the façade of the Saint-Gobain Tower in Paris, outperforming strong European competitors. In parallel, internationally iconic projects such as the Turkish House in New York City and Istanbul Airport were successfully delivered.

2019

With the opening of the London office, Metal Yapı reinforced its presence in Europe. In 2019, the company further expanded its global footprint by entering new markets including Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, India, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, and the Maldives.

2020

The global pandemic that began in 2020 marked one of the most challenging periods in Metal Yapı’s history. Amid disrupted supply chains and halted construction sites, the company prioritized protecting its most valuable asset its highly skilled workforce and ensuring operational continuity. This approach enabled Metal Yapı to emerge from the crisis stronger and more resilient.
